Getting inspired by Damrak and Struggle & Emerge? Want to push your production skills and broaden your horizons are a producers? As part of Amsterdam Dance Event 2016, we’ll be teaming up with SAE Amsterdam once again for a “Conceptual Sampling Workshop”.
The workshop is based on the theme ‘around the house’ and the idea of “conceptual sampling”. Participants will receive a sample pack of archival sounds from archives all around Europe and be challenged to create a new track solely using these sounds. Adding another element to the workshop, every artist will be encouraged to try and work a concept into their track. It could be “morning breakfast”, “shower time”, “Saturday, 5:00am” or whatever you want. The important thing is that you can convey your concept to the others and intentionally try to incorporate it.
On hand to help you along your way will be Giacomo Piscitelli, electronic music production instructor from the international renowned SAE Institute. Giacaomo will demo how using simple tools like EQ, filtering, compression and reverb these unimpressive sounds can be turned into an entire instrument rack.
RE:VIVE alumni Cocktail Party Effect (Fog Mountain, Nomie Sound) aka Kasket (Apollo Records, R&S) as well as Berliner, Born in Flamez (UnReal) will be on hand to help out, share their experiences and probably jam a bit.
At the end everyone will have a chance to share their work with the group, get feedback and be encouraged to take their track home to flesh them out a bit. We’ll share all the outcomes!
Coffee, tea and water will be provided by our lovely venue, Spring House which is conveniently located next to Amsterdam Centraal Station.
